Premier league’s Manchester United could reportedly be losing out on one of their star player who is believed to be on the radar of AC Milan who are looking to strengthen defence in the Summer.
United’s centre-back Nemanja Vidic is believed to be summer transfer target for Serie A side AC Milan, this comes after numerous speculation in one British newspaper in particular Metro.
Metro made claims suggesting that the Italian club believe the 31-year-old would be the ideal partner for struggling Philippe Mexes who hasn’t had it easy since Milan sold super centre-back Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain last summer and that a bid for Serbia international Vidic could come at the end of season. There appears to be no solid ground for the speculation other than that Vidic has just one more year to go on his current contract, which is keeping him in Manchester and that Milan are in the market for a central defender.
Italian newspaper Il Sussidiario did add some speculating of their own yesterday over a possible defensive targets. In an interview with Fifa-registered agent Angelo Cristofoletti Vidic’s name was mentioned but Cristofoletti rejected the idea on the grounds of his age. Newcastle United’s Davide Santon and FC Twente’s Brazilian-born defender Douglas were touted as more likely possibilities.
